Heidi’s Gallery

Heidi was adopted at 5 years old
and was overweight when we got her.
This is her “before diet” picture.
Heidi after her diet.
Doesn’t she look good?

She always likes to roll on her back
for belly rubs

Heidi is a spayed “rescue” and won’t be having puppies! She is a good ol’ girl!

HEIDI’S STORY

Heidi is a dog with 20 lives. She was 100% paralyzed in her back legs after an injury of some kind to her back. We don’t even know what happened- we just found her in the yard yapping at us and she could not move her hind end. We took her to the vet and he said she was pretty much hopeless- put her down, or carry her around the rest of her life and deal with the sores on her rear end from dragging herself around. Well, we decided not to put her down. I did some research and decided to give her time to heal and got her some anti-inflammatory shots. Through some working with her, carrying her around for a few weeks, and through the use of a doggie cart my husband made for her hind end, she got her movement back in her back legs!

She sometimes hippity hops her back end and walks a bit stiff and funny now- but she gets around fine and loves to dig up mice and moles and chase squirrels. Poor Heidi is an old girl and is going deaf and her eye sight isn’t so great either. I don’t know how much longer we’ll have her but I thought she deserved a place on our website too!

Heidi died not long after we moved to our new farm. Heidi will be missed!!
